"The goal was simplicity with depth — every element had to earn its place."
Not every project starts with a client. This one started with a question: how does a refined, minimalist object behave once it is pulled out of a clean studio and dropped into the real, unpolished world? The VWFNDR Keirin, a concept camera created by Nuevo Tokyo, Mireia Gordi Vila and Nemonic, became the test subject.
Fusion 360 handled the precision CAD work while Substance Painter brought in the brushed-metal finish and subtle material imperfections that keep a render from looking synthetic. Four environments were then constructed in Blender, each chosen to push a different lighting and colour problem: dappled green forest light, warm low-angle desert glow, cold overcast snow, and theatrical wet rock. A second set of tighter studio renders ran alongside, featuring close-ups of the lens and curved display populated with sample shots and exposure data to sell the idea of a working product.
The video was made to feel "in your face", using a soundtrack with heavy base and drum, aswell as a distinctive tempo. Switching between the different environments created a great contrast between the colors. The result is six visualizations told two complementary stories: four atmospheric hero shots placing the Keirin in conflicting, textured worlds, and two detail shots grounding the design in craftsmanship.
