"Liquid simulation and wet environment rendering, realised through a fully CG mock advertisement for Rekorderlig Cider."
This project was a self-initiated commercial concept, driven by a desire to explore liquid simulation and wet environment rendering through the lens of a real-world product. Rekorderlig Cider was a natural choice — a brand with a strong visual identity and, admittedly, a personal favourite.
The project began with environment concepting, establishing two distinct visual directions: an underwater world where the product floats among drifting fruit, and a sunlit lifestyle scene grounded in warmth and texture. Both environments were designed to place the product in a context that felt indulgent to the theme.
Fluid simulation was central to the project. LiquiGen handled the primary water simulations, while the underwater bubble dynamics presented a unique challenge. Rather than relying on existing solutions, a custom bubble simulation was built entirely from scratch using Blender's geometry nodes, giving precise control over the movement, scale, and density of each bubble.
Texturing and lighting were handled entirely in Blender respectively, with significant attention paid to surface condensation and material realism on the can itself. Each environment required its own lighting language, one cool and subaquatic, the other warm and sun-drenched, ensuring the product read clearly across both contexts.
The final deliverables were a polished animation and a series of high-quality still images.
